The Electra-class Monitor is a variant of the Warlock-class Destroyer.

The Electra looks broadly similar to the Warlock, and the two have very similar armaments. Ten Nova-style medium-dual plasma pulse cannons and two railguns form the primary, while it also packs defensive cannons and roughly equal-size missile racks. It also carries 36 Starfuries of various types.
The main difference between the Electra and Warlock is that the former lacks jump engines. Why? The Electra is meant for system defense, not offense, and once it arrives as a secure location, it parks itself in-system to defend the colony or planet (or both).
