The Normandy-class Assault Ship is a heavily modified variant of the Omega-class destroyer.

The most noticeable change on this ship class is the fact that it is also about 2000 meters, and the front end is both lengthened and widened. The rotating section is larger, to accommodate a large marine regiment.
While this ship is reknowned for its carrying capacity, it is actually only armed for defense. Four Omega-style particle beam cannons face front and back, while 28 40mm pulse cannons form a tight interceptor grid.
This ship carries 24 SA-23J Thunderbolt Starfury fighters and 24 SA-25A Badger Starfury fighters. Both of these ships are for bombing enemy warships with missiles and railguns. Six Invader-class Breaching Pods and six Remora-class Assault Shuttles board enemy ships to plant explosives in vulnerable areas, like fusion reactors. The shuttles are better suited to more heavily defended targets, while pods go after space stations or lightly armed ships.
